Your safest place is not a place—it’s a Person.

Jesus is Our Hiding Place

When life becomes too loud, too dangerous, or too heavy, we instinctively seek shelter. Spiritually speaking, our souls do the same—we look for a place to hide from fear, shame, addiction, regret, and pressure. The world offers temporary hiding places: distractions, numbing habits, false comforts. But they cannot shelter our spirit, heal our wounds, or protect our peace.

David wrote Psalm 32 after experiencing the weight of sin, guilt, and the joy of forgiveness. In that moment of vulnerability, he didn’t look for a cave, a throne, or a sword—he looked to God. “You are my hiding place.” God Himself was his refuge—not just from enemies, but from his own self-inflicted pain. And in God’s presence, David found preservation, deliverance, and songs of victory.

When we run to God as our hiding place, we are not running away from responsibility—we’re running into safety, healing, and restoration. In the secret place with Him, we are protected not only from outward trouble but also from the torment of inner shame, fear, and despair. He covers us. He holds us. And He sings over us.

SCRIPTURES FOR MEDITATION:

  • He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

    —Psalm 91:1

  • For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion...

    —Psalm 27:5

  • The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. —Psalm 9:9

TODAY'S GOAL:

Instead of running to temporary shelters or old coping habits, choose to run to the Lord. Speak aloud that He is your hiding place today. Let Him be your sanctuary.

FOR INTROSPECTION & JOURNALING:

  • Where do I usually “hide” when I’m stressed, ashamed, or overwhelmed?

  • How does God welcomes me into His presence even when I’ve failed?

  • What does it look like for me to truly dwell in Him today?

PRAYER:

Abba Father... You are my hiding place. In You, I am safe—emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Thank You for being a refuge when I feel weak, afraid, or broken. Teach me to run to You first and not to the empty shelters of this world. Surround me today with songs of deliverance and wrap me in Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble; You shall surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah”

—Psalm 32:7
