Eyes on Eternity
When Heaven is your focus, the pain here doesn’t get the final word.

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”
Colossians 3:2
REFLECTION:
Recovery isn’t just about a victorious escape from the past... it’s about fixing your eyes on your eternal perfect future in Heaven with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
This life is short, and the battles are real and lengthy. You fight temptation, wrestle with regret, and sometimes wonder if you’ll ever fully feel free. But the Word of God reminds you: this is not the end of your story.
If you’re truly in Christ, your destination is Heaven — eternity with Jesus. No more tears. No more sorrow. No more pain. No more death. No more addiction. No more shame. It will be... eternal glory... eternal peace... eternal joy... eternally being with our saved family.... and Jesus Himself.
So why does this matter for recovery? It matters because when you live with Heaven in view, you stop making choices based on how you feel today. You start making choices based on where you're going forever.
When the enemy tempts you with an old craving, remind yourself: It’s not worth my eternity.
When the weight of depression tries to drag you back, whisper to your soul: This pain is temporary. My hope is eternal.
Jesus didn’t just die to get you sober — He died to get you healed and home. Don’t waste your life fighting for things that won’t last. Fix your eyes on forever in eternity.

QUESTIONS FOR JOURNALING & REFLECTION
In what ways am I living each day with eternity in mind without any focus on just trying to survive the moment?
What choices would change if I truly believed Heaven was my forever home?
What earthly distractions are pulling my focus away from Jesus and my eternity?
How can I remind myself daily that recovery isn’t the goal... Heaven is?
Who around me needs to hear that there’s more to life than pain, and more to recovery than staying clean?
Closing Prayer:
Abba Father, please help me to lift my eyes above my circumstances. Remind me that this life is temporary and my citizenship is in Heaven with You. This is not all there is. I want to live every day with eternity in my heart and Heaven in my sights. As I fully recover, let it not be about about sobriety because I already know that is mine from Jesus.. Instead, as I recover and for the rest of my life, llet it be about becoming the person You made me to be, for Your glory and for the glory of forever with You. In Jesus name I pray, as I rest in You... Amen.
