The Narrow Path

The path of true surrender

"Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it."
Matthew 7:14

Reflection:

The narrow path is not the easy path. It's the path of surrender, of total submission, of dying to self, of choosing holiness over comfort, truth over popularity, and obedience over indulgence. It’s not at all crowded, because not everyone is willing to give up the broad, easy way that leads to destruction.

Understand that Jesus doesn’t call us to comfort—He calls us to life. The narrow path may be steep and lonely at times, but it leads to freedom, peace, and eternal joy. It’s the road He walked, and the one He wants us to follow Him on.

For those in recovery, the narrow path means daily choosing truth, accountability, and transformation over old habits, denial, and isolation. It’s a constant dying to what once enslaved us—and a daily resurrection into what Christ is building in us.

You don’t walk this path to earn God’s love—you walk it because you have His love. And He walks every step beside you.

Supporting Scriptures:

Matthew 16:24

🔹 “You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you.”
Deuteronomy 5:33

🔹 “Let your eyes look straight ahead,
And your eyelids look right before you.
Ponder the path of your feet,
And let all your ways be established.”

Proverbs 4:25–26

    (Pride? Resentment? Addiction? People-pleasing? Other?)

Closing Prayer:

Abba Father, I confess that I often want the easy way. I look for shortcuts, escapes, and comfort. But I know You’ve called me to walk the narrow path—the path that leads to eternal life. Help me to take up my cross daily and follow You, even when the way is hard and I struggle. Give me courage when I feel weak, and peace when I feel alone. Keep my feet from slipping and guide my every step. Thank You for walking ahead of me—and beside me. I choose Your way. In Jesus Name, Amen.
