Quiet Waters

Today's Thought:

Recovery can feel like a storm. Some days, the winds of temptation howl, the waves of regret crash, and your heart feels like it’s drowning. But Psalm 23 reminds us of something powerful: our Shepherd leads us. Not just through the chaos, but out of it and into peace.

“Quiet waters” aren’t the absence of struggle... they are the presence of Jesus in the struggle. He calms the waters not always by changing our circumstances instantly, but by giving us His peace of stillness inside. The world around you might still rage, but when Christ is near, your soul will be at rest.

Many in addiction and recovery are addicted to chaos. Noise feels normal, but quiet is healing. Stillness can be scary, but it’s also sacred. It's where God whispers, "You're safe. I'm here. Breathe."

Let Him lead you to still waters today... not by force, but by His invitation. He restores the broken places when you let Him slow your pace and walk beside Him by the still waters.

"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

Psalm 46:10

Reflect & Journal:

  1. Am I allowing God to lead me into peace, or am I rushing ahead in my own strength?

  2. What are the “noisy” distractions I need to lay down today?

  3. What would it look like to truly rest in God’s presence today?

Prayer:

Abba Father... Jesus is the Shepherd of my soul, and I want Him to lead me today to quiet waters. Help me slow down and trust that You are restoring me, even when I can’t see it. Quiet my heart and renew my spirit. In Jesus Name, Amen.

“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.”
