Crossroads and Christ

Those Moments!

"Thus says the Lord: 'Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.'"

Jeremiah 6:16

Reflection:

Every journey with Christ has a moment—or many—where we arrive at a crossroads. A place where two paths stretch out in opposite directions. One often looks easier, more familiar, or even more popular. The other may look rugged or uncertain. But only one is the way of life. Only one is marked by the footsteps of Jesus.

When you're in recovery, every decision can feel high-stakes: who to trust, what to let go of, where to live, how to heal, what you believe. These crossroads aren't just about circumstances; they’re spiritual battles calling us to surrender control, trust God’s plan, and step into deeper obedience.

Christ is not only at the crossroads—He is the way. When we look to Him, we don't just get better decisions, we get rest for our souls. He doesn't just point us to a path—He walks it with us. And often, the path He leads us down may be difficult, but it is always worth it.

🔹 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”

🔹 “You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 16:11

Coaching Questions for Journaling & Reflection:

  1. What crossroads am I currently facing in my life or recovery?
    Be honest about any decisions, relationships, or temptations pulling you in different directions.

  2. Which “old paths” or godly ways have I neglected—and what would it look like to walk in them again?

  3. Am I leaning on my own understanding or actively acknowledging God’s voice in this season?
    What would change if I fully trusted Him?

  4. How have past crossroads shaped who I am today—for better or worse? What did I learn?

  5. If Jesus stood beside me at this moment of decision, what would He gently say to me?
    Write out His possible response based on Scripture.

  6. What does "rest for your soul" mean to you today? Where do you need that rest most?

Closing Prayer:

Abba Father... I’m standing at a crossroads again, and I confess that I don’t always know what to do, but I believe You are the Way, and I trust You to guide me. Lead me on Your paths, the paths of righteousness and peace. Help me walk in step with You, even when the road is hard. Thank You that You don’t abandon me in moments of decision... You always meet me there with grace and truth. Show me the way. I will follow You. In Jesus Holy Name, Amen.
