Guard Your Heart - Especially When Life is Good
Don’t let comfort lull you into complacency—stay spiritually alert.

"Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall."
1 Corinthians 10:12
DEVO
There’s a danger that comes not in the storm, but in the calm that follows it. When you're finally seeing progress—your mind is clear, temptations have lost their grip, and your relationships are healing—it’s easy to breathe a little easier. And you should. But you also need to be watchful.
This part of your recovery journey isn’t just about relief—it’s a test. It's spiritual warfare. The enemy would love nothing more than for you to let your guard down now that you're feeling better. He waits until your hands aren’t clenched in prayer, when your Bible sits unopened, and your routine is no longer intentional. That’s when old patterns try to creep back in quietly.
Recovery isn’t forever, but your growth in Christ continues once recovery ends. Just because the hardest season is behind you doesn’t mean the fight is over. It means you're crossing into a new level of responsibility. You’ve been delivered—now you must walk in freedom with discipline and purpose.
Don’t let comfort become your downfall. Stay vigilant. Stay prayerful. Remember who brought you this far—and never take for granted how quickly things can fall apart when you stop guarding your heart.
GOAL FOR TODAY:
Even in peace, be watchful. Keep your spiritual defenses strong. This is not the time to coast—it's the time to build.
PRAYER:
Abba Father thank You for bringing me through the hardest parts of recovery. Help me not to let my guard down just because things are better. Keep me aware, focused, and fully surrendered to You. I want to walk wisely in this season of peace. In Jesus’ name, amen.
INTROSPECTION & JOURNALING:
In what ways have I started to relax my spiritual habits now that I feel better?
What subtle temptations are beginning to show up again?
How am I still seeking God daily with the same passion I had at the beginning?
What boundaries have helped me that I may be tempted to loosen?
How can I use this peaceful season to go deeper in my walk with Christ?
