God Goes Before Us
When you step into the unknown, God has already been there on our behalf

“And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you.
He will be with you,
He will not leave you nor forsake you;
do not fear nor be dismayed.”
Deuteronomy 31:8
We often step into seasons of uncertainty—a new job, a major life change, a battle we didn’t choose. In those moments, fear whispers, “You don’t know what’s ahead.” But God says, “I do, and I’ve already prepared the way.”
From the beginning, God has been the One who moves ahead of His people. When He brought Israel out of Egypt, Exodus 13:21 (NKJV) says, “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.” He didn’t just give them a destination—He guided every step.
God doesn’t send us where He hasn’t already gone. He walks ahead, clearing the way, protecting us from unseen dangers, and setting divine appointments in motion. Isaiah 45:2 (NKJV) declares, “I will go before you and make the crooked places straight; I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.”
Even when we face spiritual battles, we don’t go in alone. 2 Chronicles 20:17 (NKJV) reminds us, “You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem! Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”
When we understand that God has already been to tomorrow, we can face today with confidence. His presence is not limited to catching us when we fall—He is actively leading, guiding, and preparing our victory in advance.
Lesson to Be Learned
God is not only with us—He is ahead of us, paving the way and securing the outcome before we even take the first step.
Questions for Journaling & Introspection
Where in my life do I feel uncertain about the future?
How has God proven in the past that He goes ahead of me?
Am I trying to take the lead instead of letting Him guide?
How can I remind myself daily that He is already in my tomorrow?
What steps of faith am I resisting because of fear?

Closing Prayer
Abba Father, thank You for going before me. Thank You for preparing my path, straightening what is crooked, and protecting me from what I cannot see. I surrender my fears and uncertainties into Your hands. Help me follow where You lead, knowing You are not only with me but ahead of me, making a way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
